Noun and its Types

 Noun

The name of a person, place or thing is called a noun.

Noun example: table, chair, London, John, Road, etc.

Kinds of Nouns

There are different types of Nouns:

Proper Nou

The specific name of a person,  place or thing is called a proper noun.

For example: Pakistan, Johnson, Washington, Holy Quran etc.

Common Noun

Generic or common name of a person, place or thing is called a common noun.

For example: boy, animal, city, book etc.

Countable Nouns

The nouns which have plural form are called countable nouns.

For example: pen, city, plant, boy

Uncountable Nouns

The Nouns which do not have plural forms are called uncountable nouns. 

For example: oil, sugar, water etc.

Concrete Nouns

The name of the things which we can observe through our senses are called concrete nouns. 

For example: boy, book, table or other than abstract noun.

Abstract Nouns

The name of the things which we can not observe through our senses are called abstract Nouns. These may be ideas, emotions qualities etc.

For example: honesty, responsibility, bravery etc.

Collective Noun

The Nouns which represent a group are called collective nouns.

For example: army, police, jury etc.

Compund Nouns 

The Nouns which are formed by joining two or more words are called compound nouns.

For example: day dreaming, sister in law, well being etc.
